![]() In January 2001, Dredg was offered a deal by Interscope Records, and the band signed to the label in February 2001. The band began sending out a demo tape to several labels with four new songs intended for their next album, "Of the Room", "Redrawing the Island Map", "Running Through Propellers" and "The Papal Insignia". Over the next two years, Dredg toured mostly within California, slowly expanding their fan base. Written by Roulette, the band had planned to release a movie of the story however, upon the death of the lead actor, the project was scrapped. The story was included in the liner notes, in lieu of the actual lyrics. In May 1999, Dredg independently released their first full-length, Leitmotif, a concept album about a man traveling the world to cure his moral disease. ![]() With the release, Dredg slowly built a name for themselves in the Bay Area, as well as on the East Coast, such as in Boston and New York. Additionally, the track "Kayasuma" shares its title with the name of the shaman in Leitmotif's liner notes for "Lechium". It includes the group's first instrumental track, "Orph". In 1997, they released what would become the early stages of their musical transition, the Orph EP. Currently, very little information has ever been released about these demos. In 1996, Dredg recorded and released their first demos of original material, the Conscious EP, garnering them exposure as far away as Boston. Honestly, we don't even like the name anymore. In a 2005 interview, when asked about the origin of the band's name, Campanella said, "It was so long ago that we named it I can't even remember. After they graduated to Los Gatos High School, older friends Hayes and Roulette joined the group. While attending middle school in Los Gatos, Engles and Campanella started playing together. In January 2018, the band announced that they had reunited and have since been writing material for their sixth studio album they are planning to record the album in the winter of 2022. Following the conclusion of the album's promotional tour in May 2014, the band went on an "extended hiatus". Squeezy (2011), was a stylistic departure for the band and received a negative response from the band's fanbase. ![]() Following their departure from Interscope in 2009, Dredg independently released The Pariah, the Parrot, the Delusion, which saw the band reach their highest charting positions yet. The band experienced mainstream success with Catch Without Arms (2005), which became the band's first album to chart in the United States, and the band received exposure on MTV with the single "Bug Eyes". Dredg's major label debut, El Cielo (2002), was lauded by critics and helped establish a wider cult following for the band. Originally starting out as an alternative metal outfit, Dredg established themselves in the indie scene with their debut album Leitmotif (1999), which showed the band stylistically moving into progressive rock and art rock the album's local success landed them a deal with Interscope Records in 2001, who re-released the album later in the year. The band's lineup consists of vocalist Gavin Hayes, guitarist Mark Engles, bassist Drew Roulette and drummer and pianist Dino Campanella. Dredg (stylized as dredg) is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Los Gatos, California. ![]() ![]()

All the tools had hotkey tooltips in the toolbar.Three keys, especially where the enter key is very far away, is a huge issue in a workflow. It's a small detail, but incredibly important. In LibreCAD, I have to type "li" then press "enter". I can draw a line with "li" and it immediately jumps to the line tool.OOTB DWG which is a huge positive for users, even if it is from ODA.Here are the (small) things which added up to give me that impression in QCAD compared to LibreCAD (please correct me if I am wrong): ![]() My initial impression is that QCAD seemed more mature, despite the evidence that it's a one-man band. I'd like to hear the other side of the story :) Especially from the LibreCAD devs - the article I linked above basically said that "QCAD has everything LibreCAD has and more, just use QCAD", and it seemed a little one-sided. I'm curious to know a modern comparison of QCAD and LibreCAD. Can somebody write what they know about it on the from the commit log, it seems you are right that QCAD's commit log seems to be one guy whereas LibreCAD has a bit more variety. The page probably also needs to mention Blender and FreeCAD's DXF (and to an extent, DWG in FreeCAD)'s support too. is there a reason you are using LibreCAD and not QCAD? I'm curious if you tried both, or if your usecase is such that it makes the differences negligible. This should be documented in the wiki so that new users get a good first can you try your large complex file in QCAD? I tried a few files (of small to medium complexity only) and QCAD worked well. I was looking for a more modern comparison (since this one in 2013: ) between QCAD and LibreCAD and came across this: - from my initial testing I seem to agree with the conclusions: that QCAD seems to have resolved its closed development model, and is actively maintained as well as has much more mature features (not to mention the most important one, which is out of the box DWG support). We should instead promote QCAD and LibreCAD. I used to use Draftsight too, but I think in the interest of the OSArch mission for free software, we should not mention Draftsight, NanoCAD, BricsCAD, or really any of the other proprietary alternatives. It's also a good way to cut funding from Autodesk, who have been milking it for far too long than is good for consumers. In my opinion, getting people off AutoCAD is a nice quick win for free software, so making this page well written and provide easy steps for people to switch is a high priority. Thanks for all the replies! I've posted what I've learned from this thread as well as my own experience here: I can open the urban plans provided by municipality of Vienna and work with them reasonably, which is quite ok.Worst case Autodesk provides a free viewer and converter to dxf, which is official, so theoretically better than for example archicad import. We worked with dxfs in the past, I've never had problems with receiving dxf from consultants on request. Some sort of programming capability as lisp in autocad would obviously be a benefit, but as the only serious use of a drawing software nowadays is simple sketching over referenced plans I don't find it important. The other 95% of extra functions autocad has are principally useless. I really miss proper referencing and layout system. ![]() I prefer that it is strictly 2D, as I have in the 10 years of my autocad experience never seen anyone meaningfuly use 3D drawings. I worked with autocad and rhino extensively and learning librecad after that was very easy.

![]() ![]() We tried the Maple Bacon Candied Walnut with Evan Williams Bourbon and the Bananas Foster with Kraken Rum. They are $10.95 with spirits and $6.95 without alcohol. Each serving has a full shot (1.5 ounces of booze). The shakes are made with a high butter fat ice cream from Darigold. Stack 571 has six regular shakes and a special shake, all with an optional shot on their menu. Unfortunately, on our visit, the restaurant had a special menu that didn’t include this frozen booze-bomb. We headed to the Vancouver waterfront and tried to get the notoriously boozed up Bootleg Bourbon Milkshake at Barlow’s Public House. She decided to sub in bourbon for gin and the Bourbon Bramble boozy shake was born. Who would think that blackberry went so well with bourbon? Shan Wickham, Rally co-owner and pastry chef, was inspired by a classic gin cocktail called a bramble. ![]() The surprise hit was the Bourbon Bramble (bourbon, blackberry syrup, and sea salt caramel). When you bring the glass to your lips the aroma is more bakery than distillery. The 1 ounce of alcohol in each drink is carefully mixed with the other flavors. Who needs the vodka? After all, the boozy shakes at Rally aren’t booze forward. The Landslide (Irish cream, Kahlua, and coffee syrup) brought visions of The Dude from the film “The Big Lebowski.” It’s a frozen White Russian without the vodka. We also liked the smoked marshmallow flavor. It proved that amaretto may be the ultimate liquor to mix with a sweet drink. On our visit, the waitress cautioned us that there was only one left, so we snapped it up. The Forest Road (amaretto, chocolate fudge sauce and smoked marshmallow) seems to be very popular. The frozen custard makes the shakes extremely thick you’re more likely to use a spoon than try to hoover them through a paper straw. Rally Pizza has a permanent menu of five boozy shakes ($10), and a daily special shake, all made with Rally’s own luscious frozen custard. The first stop was Rally Pizza, the place that inspired our journey. It was a glorious - but surprisingly not very intoxicating - evening. As part of my duty to overindulge in sugar and alcohol, I assembled a team of fellow hedonists to wander Vancouver seeking boozy shakes. The end of the year is all about decadence. ![]() |
